The Cotentin, this little corner of the world, the more I get to know it (I was born here), the more I realize that we really are at the end of the world. With its temperate climate in both summer and winter, its very straightforward and peaceful nature, the tranquility that reigns here, its livelier coastal character, and its more rustic countryside. We’re a land of apples; my grandparents, great-grandparents, great-great-grandparents, and so on produced, as one would expect, hundreds of thousands of liters of cider and calvados, some better, some worse. The traditional method has its limits. Once a barrel of cider was finished, you had to be my grandfather to drink it. Today we have family-run and artisanal cideries that, with strict specifications and Appellations d’Origine, allow everyone to fully enjoy these magical potions that bring us joy and happiness.
