All of these “bottles,” each with different capacities, result in a very unique aging process for the wine they contain. Indeed, the larger the bottle, the longer the wine can be aged. It’s fascinating to observe the following effect during a tasting: take the same winemaker, the same grape variety, the same vineyard plot, the same vintage, and the same winemaking process, but in different containers, you’ll very quickly notice distinct subtleties, noticeable nuances, and remarkable differences.

One of my favorite poets from my childhood wrote: “The milkmaid and the milk jug.” What would he have written if he’d been talking about wine in large containers?
